Selling Property - Show Day Security Checklist

Show House Security Protocols

Opening your home to strangers unfortunately also opens a door for the chance that things might go wrong. In order to prevent any unfortunate events from occurring during your Show Day, please read through the security checklist below and feel secure knowing your things are in order, and let the Agent do the rest.

Animals:

Please remove all animals off the premises or ensure that they are kept in a secure location out of sight, and out of harm's way. This is done because buyers viewing the property may dislike or even fear animals as well as preventing the unlikely, yet possible event of perspective buyers being attacked by your animals, purely out of instinct.

Staff:

Be sure to inform all staff that the property is On Show and ensure that they meet the agent or sitter prior to the property being On Show, in order to prevent an imposter from gaining access to your home.

Insurance:

It is your responsibility to ensure that the content of your home is insured against lost, damage and theft.

Moveable's:

Lockup all cell/portable phones, laptops, CD's, perfumes, jewellery, cameras and any other items of value that might be laying around.

Personal:

Lock up bank cards, wallets, identification documents and any other private items that could be stolen and used fraudulently.

Remotes & Keys:

Lock up all remote controls and spare keys that a stranger could use to gain access to your property – Ensure that the agent has all necessary remotes for entry / exit or emergency.

Security Company:

It is wise to inform your security company, on the day, that your property will be On Show should anything happen, or check whether they can place a security vehicle outside the home for the Show Day period.
Be sure to leave your security companies contact details for the Agent / Sitter.

Panic Buttons:

Please ensure that the agent and all sitters know the whereabouts of all panic buttons or any special emergency procedures.

For your own protection:

Should any person, other that a Chas Everitt Property Specialist or authorised personnel, approach you with regards to viewing the property, this person must not be allowed to view the property without the Agent. Should a person arrive without the agent / authorised personnel, then that person should be given the agent's contact details to make necessary viewing arrangements, especially after the show day ends, do not to allow any person in afterwards who might be trying to pass as a Buyer.
