The suburb of Johannesburg North is in the region of 35 years old. It is well
established and has a below average reputation in terms of the amount of crime
in the area. There is an interesting story regarding the name of the suburb.
It is said when the area was originally sold the purchaser thought he was buying
central Johannesburg because the 3 major street names are Church, Market and
Pritchard.
In terms of property there are approximately 900 houses in the area. The area
has 20 complex's in the suburb of which 13 are cluster developments.
There are no schools in the area. There are 2 nursery schools:- Disneyland
and Magic Beings.
There are no shopping centres in the suburb although the suburb is served well
by centre is adjacent areas.
The suburb is basically 3 very long streets with a section that crosses the
Witkoppen road.
There is one decent drinking establishment called the Corner House.
